Then become a "PLANK OWNER" of the triathlon that will become the premier race for the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE.

If you wish to contribute without doing the race, go to DONATE

THE EVENT

The Daytona Frogman will be held on March 21, 2010. It is a USAT sanctioned olympic distance triathlon, consisting of a 1500 meter ocean swim, 40K bike and a 10K run. In addition to the standard USAT age group categories, there will be categories for military and challenged athletes. There will NOT be an elite division or prize money. Atlantic ocean swims can be demanding, be prepared for the challenge. Wetsuits will be legal unless there is an unusual change in ocean temperature for that time of year. March ocean temps can vary from year to year but are generally in the 60's. The swim course will be well staffed with EMT/lifeguards from the Volusia County Beach Patrol, on paddleboards, Personal Water Craft and in boats. In the event that ocean conditions become unsafe, the decision to cancel the swim for safety reasons will be a joint decision between the race director and the swim course coordinator. The swim will be started in waves on 3 minute intervals. USAT officials will be on the course insuring a fair race for all. Please adhere to all USAT rules, as they will be enforced.

THE CAUSE

100% of the net proceeds is being donated to the NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE FOUNDATION which supports the men and their families of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE.

BATTLE FOR THE BEACH-March 20, 2010

Tigershark Events and the Naval Special Warfare Recruiting district in Jacksonville, created this event in 2007. The orginal event was an intense competition between Volusia County Beach Patrol lifeguards and Navy SpecWar candidates. The event has evolved into a yearly battle that has grown into numerous teams from college ROTC programs, rugby and consists of a 1/2 mile ocean swim, 1000 pushups, 1000 situps, soft sand low crawl relay and finishes with 500 pull ups. The teams of six must complete all events as a team. The push up, sit up and pull up totals are a cumulative effort of all six people. Since this is a head-to-head competition, teams must be physically prepared to accomplish their goal. Do you have what it takes? BATTLE FOR THE BEACH 2010 is looking for teams of six to take the challenge.
